Lucky’s Doughnuts (Vancouver)
Coconut Bismark
This place is really cool! It has a great vibe that makes me feel more hipster than I really am. The bonus is that they have a doughnut counter right in the middle of the store! I am a sucker for old fashioned doughnuts, and THAT is what you can find here!
I found the flavours fun and varied. The coconut is pictured, but I also tried the orange pistachio, salted caramel, the vegan almond, and some cookies which aren’t worth my time (PASS!!).
It’s hard to tell you which one I enjoyed the most (maybe the caramel), but I honestly can’t wait to try more!! SOON!
Romer’s Burger Bar (Vancouver)
R Famous Drunken Doughnuts
I had just finished a 3 course meal when we walked into Romer’s (so that my latecomer friend could grab a quick bite). I wasn’t going to order/eat ANYTHING until I saw the doughnuts! Ordered on the spot, the dessert reached my highest expectations! Amazing! This one I could definitely have once a day (breakfast anyone??)!
Cartems Donuterie (Vancouver)
(Clockwise from bottom left) Bee Sting, Earl Grey, Mexican Mole, Carrot Cake, Sweet Snow, Salted Caramel
I can honestly say I knew Cartems before they were popular (gosh, I’m such a hipster!), seriously! I entered the realm of gourmet doughnuts - on their opening weekend! The weekend right before they began having constant lineups and regular sell outs!
The “donuts” here are amazing, and so is the staff! Always friendly and always chatty (even when I’m grumpy)!
My personal favourite is the Mexican Mole, but I’d recommend the Carrot Cake or even the Bourbon Bacon for beginners (hahaha)!
Randy’s Donuts (Inglewood, California)
Cherry Doughnut
You know what?
I was watching Iron Man the other day (in preparation for The Avengers), when I noticed a larger than life sized doughnut and I thought, “HEY! I’ve been there!”
We had stopped by right after a late flight and decided to have some dessert for dinner (which is more common than you might think)! I just randomly ordered whatever looked appetizing, and appetizing it was!!!
I’m pretty sure this is California’s doughnut spot (every province/state has their own)!
